QR CODE APP V2
(2019)
Solvay creates chemical formulation to produce batteries for all types of electronic devices.

In order to simplify and improve upon the current version 1.0 of the QR Code Application, Solvay Korea called upon the Solvay Digital Studio in Singapore to conduct a Design Sprint to rapidly gather user input, generate new ideas and imagine an entirely new design.

Empathize
The first day, we started with an ice breaker to share the mindset of the next few days.
Then, we started with an exercise for them to describe the user journey, detailing tasks, joy and pain points before to continue with shadowing phase the morning, and interviews in the afternoon to better understand the process.

Define & Ideate
The second day, we did a brainstorming activity to identify precisely the strengths, wiknesses, technology used, etc. in the morning. In the afteroon, they mixed elements in order to imagine new ideas and solutions.
Then they had to draw screens for a possible new solution.

Strength and Weaknesses description on the old process
Process & Prototype
Third day, the UX Senior and I worked together to discuss about the output, improve the current solution and imagine a new process before I start working on the prototype and him on the report.

New process imagined

Process - screen flow sketching
Here's the screen flow on QR code V2 application, total screens more or less 20 to illustrate the main flow.
It is composed with:
-
cells project, tests starting date and channels allocation
-
cabinet and channels management
-
users management

User tests
The fourth day, we tested the solution in the morning, collected feedback and I improved it.
Fifth day morning we did new test with other end users, to collect the last feedback - necessary improvements.
During the afternoon, we worked on global report.

Conclusion
Design sprint methodology on site, on this project was a good choice. It helped us to quickly identify pain points and ideate with end users to solve it. No matter the cultural - language gap we had during interviews and tests, we overcame it and reached a solution with high value for EWHA laboratory teams.
Starting this project we thought to improve the v1 application but in the end: we imagined a new process for the profession - role and we designed a total new application.
